John L. McAlpin President and Chief Operating Officer
John McAlpin has over 25 years of experience in the transportation and logistics industry,
including various positions with FedEx, PlanetRx and Flextronics Worldwide Logistics.
Most recently, since 2004, John has served as the head of operations for Newgistics Incorporated,
a leading provider of USPS-based small parcel return and delivery package services.
John has extensive experience in logistics, supply chain optimization solutions, manufacturing,
and engineering. We believe that John's expertise in these key areas
will enable him to be integral to the execution of the company's future business plan.
Before joining Newgistics, John was Vice President and General Manager with Flextronics
International in their Supplychain Services division. Prior to that, John served as
President of PlanetRx, Vice President of Transportation with First Union Corporation and
as a Managing Director with Federal Express Logistics Services. John holds a Bachelor degree
in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Memphis and is an active member of the Parcel
Shippers Association.
Todd Adams
Chief
Financial Officer
Todd Adams possesses over 29 years of experience as a corporate financial executive.
After graduating from UW-Whitewater with a BBA in Accounting in 1980, Mr. Adams
received his CPA certificate in 1983. He became the internal auditor for Journal
Communications the largest media company in the state of Wisconsin.
Mr. Adams was promoted to assistant controller in 1996 of the company's
largest division, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. In 1988,
he was promoted to Controller and in 1993 became
Senior Vice President - CFO for the Journal Sentinel.
During the next 13 years Mr. Adams was involved with virtually all aspects
of the newspaper business, helping drive the top line revenue as well as
driving efficiencies in all aspects of the business. This included leading
the business strategy of the Journal Sentinel, overseeing customer pricing
decisions, and all expense related reductions. During his time as CFO, Mr.
Adams was involved in building and purchasing a $113 million dollar plant
and equipment for a new state of the art printing facility.
The project won various world wide awards for it's design.
Mr. Adams also served as President of the Newspaper Financial Group
in 2003/2004, a 900-member organization.
After leaving the newspaper business in 2006 Mr. Adams purchased a small
advertising business and later became acquainted with the ComVest Group,
a private equity firm out of West Palm Beach, Florida. Since then, Mr.
Adams has now been appointed CFO for three of ComVest's portfolio companies,
the latest being Velocity Express.
Roger Gellis
Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing
Roger Gellis has over 25 years of Transportation and Logistics experience in Sales,
Operations, and Product development, including Fedex, the USPS, Sigma-Aldrich
Corporation, APX Logistics, and a company he launched from the ground up,
Integrity Retail Distribution. During his tenure at Velocity,
Mr. Gellis has been instrumental in expanding Velocity's role in the Retail
Logistics sector, having been responsible for securing marquee Retailers,
with revenues in excess of $30 million annually. His overall logistics
experience is well balanced having worked as an Industrial Engineer,
Terminal Manager, and Regional Manager early in his career. Mr. Gellis
holds a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida.
Kay Perry-Durbin
Executive
Vice President, Workforce Resources
Ms. Perry-Durbin joined Velocity Express
in February 2000. As Vice President, Workforce Resources, Ms. Perry-Durbin has strategic
responsibility for all aspects of Velocity workforce management, including
human resources, employee relations, employee payroll, driver qualification,
independent contractor relations, and enforcement of related risk management
practices. Ms. Perry-Durbin's 16 years in human resources management includes design,
development, and implementation of recruiting, compensation, and training
programs. Her experience also includes labor relations and employment
law in the energy, manufacturing and retail sales industries with Shell
Oil, Amoco and Fleetwood. Other experience includes insurance liability
defense with the Houston law firm of Hirsch, Glover, Robinson & Sheiness.
Prior to entering the human resources management field, Ms. Perry-Durbin served
as adjunct professor at the University of Houston teaching legal research
and investigative methods. Ms. Perry-Durbin holds a BA
from West Texas A&M, an MBA from Houston Baptist University, a
certification from Southwestern Paralegal Institute, and the SPHR designation
from the Society for Human Resources Management.
Mark T. Carlesimo
General
Counsel
Mr.
Carlesimo served as Vice President - General Counsel and Secretary
of CD&L since September 1997. From July 1983 until September
1997, Mr. Carlesimo served as Vice President of Legal Affairs of Cunard
Line Limited. Earlier in his career, Mr. Carlesimo served as Staff
Counsel to Seatrain Lines, Inc., a cargo shipping company and was engaged
in the private practice of law. Mr. Carlesimo received a B.A. in
Economics from Fordham University in 1975 and received his law degree
from Fordham University School of Law in 1979. Mr. Carlesimo is
a Member of the Bar of the states of New York and New Jersey.
